Day 3- Examination

In looking at life, you can easily draw comparisons. It is a tendency to say that you are either better than others because of what you don't do or that you do not measure up to others because of where you are in life. However, let's take a different approach in allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal the broken areas in your life.

  1. Indeed, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

I have a six year old son and he is active in the Awana club on Wednesdays. It's been great being able to talk with him about Christ and what He means in my life. When he had to memorize Romans 3:23, he QUICKLY asked me "Mommy, what did you do that was a sin?" Wow, how do you answer that question to a six year old? But it really did make me look inside myself. I remember growing up and they used to say you shouldn't do anything you wouldn't do in front of your mother. Well, my mother died when I was 4 so in my mind, she's always been watching and so I've tried to live accordingly. However, it puts a new spin on things for me when I think about it in terms of my son. As a Christian parent, I have to be mindful of the example that I'm giving my sons. And while it's great to examine our past sins, ask forgiveness, and thank God for His forgiveness, it means sooo much to me that when God reveals these areas in my life that I need to do better, I can do so and provide a better example for my children. Maybe in doing so, I can spare them some of the difficulties and hardships I've faced.

I know I've said a lot here, but I wanted to share that in my examination, I find a better way to serve the Lord by leading my children in the right direction. Praise God!

  2. Examination - I am so thankful we serve a forgiving God. I am thankful for the ability to ask for forgiveness and know God will not continue to remind us of those things we've done which are not pleasing in His sight...unlike those in the world (friends, family, etc.)

I asked God to help me fix the broken areas in my life and I know He will :)

    Let's keep going EBC!
